a little weekend DIY....

So I have really gotten into DIY lately... THANK YOU PINTEREST! haha! I have painted/distressed a table for my bedroom and now I feel like a pro! haha! NOT! But I did find a great tecnique to antique my kitchen cabinets.  I decided that the hubby and I would take on this project.  But I wanted to test it out first.  I saw a post on pinterest where someone had painted their pantry door an accent color.  Thus, my inspiration for this project!!

This was the door before... plain ole' boring!

So... took the door off the hindges, cleaned it with a magic eraser, took the knob and hardware off and dryed it really good.  Then I painted it with 2 coats of green paint (my kitchen colors are black and lime green).

After this dryed for a few hours, we began the process of "antiquing" it.  I picked up a bottle of antique glaze at Lowes when I picked out my paint color along with some cleaning rags.  Here is what you do with the glaze:

1.  Brush on really fast, in any direction that you want, you have about 3 or 4 minutes to work with this product.

2.  Take your cloth and begin wiping the glaze off.  You want to wipe in the same direction.  And you can leave more glaze in areas that you want to highlight...

after.

Doesn't it look great!!! Along with sweet Baby Samson... =)  I LOVE MY DOOR!! I need a new knob.. the brass just isn't cutting it.. and I'm also going to use my cricut to print "Panty" to put on the door as well.

So proud of my first antiquing project!!!!! Now onto my bathroom cabinets and antiquing the kitchen (dont worry, i'm not painting them green! hehe!)

The Time is Going to Pass Anyway.....

I read this quote this morning. It really struck a chord deep inside me. I hate waiting. I am impatient. I want things and I want them now. Yes, unfortunately I have a fault.  I know, shocker!! But we all have them, and this is my BIGGEST fault of them all! So when it comes to weight loss, I want it off and I want it NOW! LIKE YESTERDAY!!

Unfortunately, it doesn't come off as fast as it went on, and it doesn't come off as easily as it went on either.  There is no magic cure, no magic pill that I can take and still eat whatever I want.  I LOVE FOOD! Its no secret.. I love buying groceries, gathering recipes, preparing meals, baking, and of course the taste.. I love savoring every bite.  I know this is a lifestyle change, but that doesn't mean that once I am at my goal I can't indulge every now and then...But of course the greatest food is also the worst for you... so when it comes to dieting its even harder for me. I miss food!! But I digress.....

My point of all of this is to say that I have to keep putting it off... and stopping because I haven't lost 50 pounds in 2 weeks.  It took time to put it on, it will take time (and longer) to get it off... and just like the quote, my new motto, says "the time will pass anyway..."

I look back on how many times I have started and stopped over the last 2 years, and think If I would have just stuck with it, I would be at my goal now..."  So this is is... no more stopping.. Its reach my goal or bust!

I encourage all of you to remember that as you're on your own weight loss/lifestyle journeys...the time is going to pass anyway, might as well make it worth it!

Week 1 Weigh In....

The time has come..... time to weigh in after my first week on the shakes!!!  First let me say that these shakes are AWESOME! I actually crave them.. lol.  but they really do tide me over until my next meal.. It took me a couple of days to get used to not eating something for breakfast and lunch, but now it doesn't really bother me.  Plus I know that I can eat something at dinner, that helps a lot.  If I have gotten hungry during the day, I eat string cheese, almonds, or a laughing cow cheese and wheat thin.  I haven't been to the gym, but that is starting this week! Week 1 down!!!!! 7 days down!!!! 83 more days to go!

And week one results....(i'll do my measurements once a month)....

I'm down 6 pounds!!!!!!

CELEBRATION!!! WOOHOO!!!!!

1 day at a time, 1 week at a time...... 1 pound at a time!!!!

Monday's should be against the law....

I think Monday's should be illegal.  Or at least having to be at work before 10am on Monday's should be.  Let us ease back into our work week!

I had an awesome weekend.   All of my outdoor plans were ruined because it rained all weekend, but that just gave me an excuse to stay in my pj's, watch movies with my hubby, play with our dogs, and play some kick butt Super Mario Brothers on the Wii! (Yes, we just got a Wii for Christmas and Brandon and I are totally addicted to Super Mario Brothers, go figure!)

Tonight we are going to a friends place to watch the National Championship game... todays the last day that my Tigers are reigning National Champs.  WAR EAGLE FOREVER AND ALWAYS!!

And tomorrow... I'm headed back to the gym.. I spent my first week of the New Year getting into my diet routine and eating healthy.  Now, its time to add some exercise!! I want this weight gone. Gone Fast! Period.

So... hows the diet going?  Really well actually.  Saturday, the hubby and I decided would be our cheat day if we wanted to.  Nothing extravagant, just something to look forward to during the week.  That way if we crave something, we tell ourselves we can have it Saturday and when Saturday comes if we still want it, we can have it.  Makes us not cheat during the week.  So Saturday, I had a chick-fil-a biscuit and a Diet Dr. Pepper and that was the extent of my cheating.  Sunday, I had my shake for breakfast, but at lunch I needed something of some substance, so I made myself a grilled chicken salad.  And I was totally satisfied! I already feel so much better just because I've cut nasty greasy food out of my life!  I can't WAIT to weigh in the morning to see how much I have lost!!!!

This is what I made for dinner Saturday night, along with a salad and oven roasted potatoes (and we ate the leftovers Sunday night...)

Chicken Rollatini

So... what are my #6 and #7?????

So What is Body by VI??

So. What is this Body by Vi program that I am doing.  Body by Visalus program is a shake that you replace 2 meals with per day (preferably breakfast and lunch) and have a sensible dinner.

When I first heard about it I thought "oh great another diet to try that isn't going to work.." but I was wrong.  I have a friend who is a distributor.  She has been on the program since November 2 and has already lost 26 pounds!!!! And let me tell you... these shakes taste INCREDIBLE!!!!

Not only do the shakes taste great but they have some amazing nutritional value.  One shake has the equivalent of 1.5 cups broccoli, 13 eggs, 5 peaches, 2.5 chicken breasts, 1.5 cups yogurt, 1.5 cups bran flakes, 18 oz tomato juice, 1.5 cups romaine lettuce, 5oz cheese, 3 cups of cooked lima beans, 15 slices of whole wheat bread, 20 spears of asparagus, 1 cup brown rice, 2 cups mushrooms, 30 apples, 10 stalks of celery, 3.5 tomatos, 3 pineapples and 30 prunes.  HOW GREAT IS THAT!!!!!

The shakes have also helped people with health problems from acne to diabetes.  There is one man that was on 10 diffrent medications that no longer has to take anything!!!

There are hundred of recipes online (from strawberry banana to chocolate peanut butter to cinnamon roll) that you can make with the shake mix and unlike slim-fast or other shake diets, these are very filling!!! I am planning on eating a small snack (some laughing cow cheese and crackers or almonds) between meals.

The challenge is a 90 days challnege when you take your weight and measurements and do the program for 90 days.  The cost per month is $99 (for the 2 shake program) and you can have it set up on auto ship.  It sounds like a good chunk of change, but remember you're replacing 2 meals a day.  Thats only $1.82/meal!

I am so excited about the program.  I am starting my challenge the day after christmas because I know I wont eat sensibly with all the family gatherings coming my way!

If you want to sign up or just need more info feel free to shoot me an email of give me a call.

So... what shakes have I had so far???

Day 1. Tuesday. I had Birthday Cake for breakfast and Cinnamon Roll for Lunch.  I also had a string cheese with my lunch shake.  And let me tell you I was READY when dinner rolled around.  I had a steak and cheese sub from subway and some baked chips.  As long as you each a sensible dinner, you're good to go!

Day 2. Wednesday. I had Chocolate Peanut Butter for breakfast and Strawberry Cheesecake for lunch.  The strawberry cheesecake has been my favorite so far!!!!  I also had a laughing cow cheese and some reduced fat wheat thins with my lunch shake.  For dinner, baked chicken, rice and beans.

Today. Day 3. Thursday.  I was going to have another Strawberry Cheesecake shake for breakfast but I created my own and had a White Chocolate Strawberry Cheesecake... YUMMY YUMMY YUMMY!!!! I haven't decided on my lunch shake yet.  SOOO many options!!!

I am already feeling better and cannot WAIT to weigh in and take my measurements on Tuesday!!!!!  Now to just add in some exercise... gym here I come!!!

2 days down... 88 more to go!!!!
Skinny HERE I COME!!!!

Well...obviously I didn't stick with it.. here's to try #1,859,305

Okay. So once again its time to start back on the weight loss adventure... but this time, somethings a little different.. My new years resolution is to get healthy... period.  Not just weight loss, but to take better care of myself.  Wash my face at night, wake up early enough so that I am not rushing around, keep my house cleaner, read more, stop laying around so much, etc.  I am ready for a NEW me! The year I spent not working changed me A LOT! I stopped being so organzied, stopped caring about myself as much as I did, and really just stopped having a routine.  Well, IM BACK! I'm ready to take better care of myself and get back into my old GOOD habits!!!

Yesterday, I started DAY 1 of my 90 day challenge.  I am doing the Body by VI program.... and if you dont know much about it, I'll fill you in with my next post.  But so far I ALREADY feel better.  My 90 day goal is 50 pounds I WILL meet my goal! Just you wait and see! I am pumped and ready for this to be the year that changes everything!!!

You guys keep me accountable. And I'd love your feedback to hear what you'd like me to talk about.  I plan to post everyday.  My weigh in days are on Tuesday and I'll report my pounds lost PLUS inches.  Also, I will post reasons to get healthy daily so be on the lookout for those!

Hope you will all follow and encourage me... and also just let me know how your weight loss, get healthy, and New Years Resolutions are going for you!

What are your Resolutions this year??
